Creating an Online Dating Profile

These days, online dating is extremely popular. Why restrict yourself to the few people you might meet at work or school when you can browse through millions of possible partners online?

Of course,  that generally means creating an online dating profile. What should you put in your to have the best chance of attracting an appropriate mate?

Everyone knows the old stereotypes: people using decades-old photos, reducing their age, exaggerating their achievements and income. Don't do this. Visible aspects will lead to a rude awakening when you finally meet, and other things can often be Googled. Would you really want to date a liar? 

Online, everyone is smart, funny, and wants to have fun. What makes you unique? Accurately describing yourself and your likes and dislikes will help you to hook up with someone with whom you'll be compatible. 

If you were meeting someone for the first time in real life, what would you talk about first? You'd probably give a little background information, such as what you do, where you go to school, what your hobbies are, whether you like pets. Put this information in your profile! Aside from making you look more well-rounded, it gives you something to talk about. Mentioning pets and children is particularly important, as potential partners may have allergies or strong dislikes!

Many people won't even bother looking at an online dating profile that doesn't include a photo. Face it: chemistry matters, and appearance plays a big role! Finding an unusual or memorable photo also helps attract attention to your profile, and will get you more responses from people who are curious as to what else you might get up to.. 

Only want to date women under 29 years old? Can't stand a man with a mustache? Say so in your profile! You'll save other people time they'd waste contacting you, and you'll save your own time going through profiles that aren't what you're looking for. At the same time, don't be too specific; you never know who might surprise you!
